Updated: Oct 4, 2024

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There’s no time like the present to manage your risk.

At least one in 27 women (and one in 943 men) will face breast cancer in their lifetime. Catching and treating it early improves your chances of survival.

Although October are Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the other side of the coin are just as important and that reflects on Prostate Cancer among men.  Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men (after skin cancer), one in 15, but it can often be treated successfully.

There’s no time like the present to manage your risk.

90% of Medical Aids in South Africa have made provision for Preventative Screening Test within their benefit structure on medical aid plans.  These Preventative Screening Test includes most of the time a Monogram Test for Women to identify possible breast cancer and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Test for men to identify possible prostate cancers.

Point to remember – Tests are covered from the Preventative Screening Tests benefit and not consultations.

Stay pro-active, go for early detecting test and keep yourself informed as to all the Preventive Screening Tests benefits being offered by your medical aid plan or medical insurance product.
